SYDNEY, Australia, 29 May 2025 – AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) today announced Dr Carly Levetan has been appointed as Associate Medical Director, Oncology for Australia, to advance AbbVie’s efforts to transform standards of care in difficult to treat cancers.

Carly commenced in the role this month reporting to Lindsay Grant, Medical Director ANZ. 

Carly comes to Abbvie with a background spanning clinical practice, medical affairs, and commercial strategy within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors in South Africa, Australia and Asia Pacific.

Carly holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from University of Cape Town and has held leadership positions at Novartis and Johnson & Johnson, with a focus on hematology, oncology, medical excellence, and new product planning. 

Carly played a central role in launching the first cell and gene therapies to patients in Australia, marking a significant milestone in treatment accessibility. More recently, she led a cross-functional team to shape commercial strategy across oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and gene therapy. As a health consultant, Carly has also advised healthcare technology companies exploring the application of artificial intelligence in diagnostics.
